Mini-boss guide
How to beat Cog Sergeant
Cog Sergeant arrives with a normal wave still on the floor. Clear the small monsters first, then kite the Sergeant in a wide circle — it is faster than a Rust Tank but turns slowly.

About the boss
Cog Sergeant is Hero Havoc's mini-boss. It has 320 health, hits for 16 and drops 25 coins and 45 XP. It never fights alone: it arrives inside a full normal wave, so the danger is the combination of a sturdy chaser and a crowd of Runners, Shufflers and Goo Throwers. Think of it as the dress rehearsal for the boss coming next wave.
Attacks and mechanics
Relentless chase
The Sergeant walks straight at the nearest hero. It is quicker than a Rust Tank but still slower than every hero.
Heavy contact hits
Each touch deals 16 damage before difficulty modifiers — more than double a Shuffler.
How to avoid its attacks
- Keep moving in a wide loop; the Sergeant cannot catch a hero who never stops.
- Do not let it pin you against cover while smaller monsters close in from the other side.
- Kill Goo Throwers early so you are not dodging ranged shots and the Sergeant at the same time.
Best heroes against Cog Sergeant
Titan's health pool shrugs off a stray Sergeant hit.
Piercing beams hit the Sergeant and the monsters lined up behind it.
Long range keeps the Sergeant at a safe distance.
Best weapons
Any weapon works, but do not waste a Rocket Launcher crate on it if you can carry the crate into the boss wave instead.
Recommended upgrades
Level-ups around this wave are the last before a boss: favour Hero Vitality or Focus Core if you are low on health or relying on your special.
Common mistakes
- Spending a weapon crate on the mini-boss and arriving at the boss wave empty-handed.
- Leaving health drops on the floor when the wave ends.
- Chasing the Sergeant into a crowd instead of letting it follow you.

With 30% more health and 15% more speed it takes noticeably longer; plan an escape route.

60% more health and 50% more damage. Treat it as a real threat and use your special.
Quick tips
- Clear Runners first.
- Circle, do not backpedal into walls.
- Collect every health drop before the boss banner.
- It spawns on the wave right before a boss wave — treat it as the warm-up.
- Clear fast Runners first so they cannot chip you while you circle.
- Collect every health drop it leaves before the boss banner appears.
