How to beat Tentacle Professor

Tentacle Professor is the wave 5 wall. Never fight it in a corner: it has a large body radius and will pin you. Keep a weapon crate in reserve and unload it once the Professor commits to a lunge.

About the boss

Tentacle Professor is the first boss most players meet. It has 1,500 health, hits for 20 and rewards 150 coins and 200 XP. The Professor rotates through three readable patterns, and every one of them is easiest to dodge from the middle of the arena.

Attacks and mechanics

Metal arm sweep

The Professor walks in and slaps a wide arc in front of it.

Spinning gadget

It spins a gadget that releases radial rings of bolts.

Arm charge

It charges with extending arms toward the hero.

How to avoid its attacks

  • Step behind or to the side of the arm sweep — the arc is in front of the Professor.
  • Look for the gaps between bolts in each ring and walk through them rather than running away.
  • Side-step the charge at the last moment, then shoot it while it recovers.

Best heroes against Tentacle Professor

Arrowstorm

Inferno Arrowstorm prioritises the boss and burns keep ticking while you dodge.

Warden

The Professor's steady movement makes lining up beams easy.

Arachnyx

Web Swing Dash's invulnerability lets you dash through a charge.

Best weapons

Rocket Launcher is ideal — unload it right after the charge. Laser Rifle is a safe alternative that also clears adds.

Recommended upgrades

Power Fists and Split Shot shorten the fight; Quick Boots makes the charge easier to escape.

Common mistakes

  • Fighting in a corner where the charge pins you.
  • Running in a straight line from bolt rings instead of slipping through gaps.
  • Using your special on the adds when the Professor is exposed.

Strategy by difficulty

rookie

A good place to learn its three patterns; mistakes are forgiving.

hero

Respect the charge and the fight is very manageable.

legend

Extra speed makes the charge harder to read — react earlier.

nightmare

Bosses are tougher and the extra add count makes centre space precious.

Quick tips

  • Fight in the centre.
  • Dodge sideways.
  • Burst after the charge.
  • Stay near the centre of the arena so you always have room to retreat.
  • Let the Professor commit to a lunge, then side-step and unload.
  • Your special is best used when it and its adds are bunched together.
